BOUCHON

The story of the Bouchon winery begins with the adventurous dream of a young Frenchman almost a century and a half ago. Emile Bouchon left his home of small winemakers in Arveyres, near Bordeaux, France, to embark in the spring of 1887 on a ship bound for Chile.

Emile was hired as an oenological consultant and after many years of effort he managed to acquire an old winery in the Colchagua Valley, transforming it into one of the most renowned wineries of the time, a tradition that would be continued by his sons Antonio and Abel.

Our winery is a simple and noble construction of adobe walls and clay floor, dating from the early 20th century. Depending on the characteristics and styles of our Chilean wines, the ageing is done in 225 litre French oak barrels, 2,500 litre French oak foudres and 700 litre clay vessels.

We also have 18,500 litre epoxy cement vats, which allow us to vinify our best red grapes separately.
